I believe in beauty. I believe it is everywhere. I believe it is powerful, healing and available to us at any moment, if we pause to discover it or create it.

Since my son went blind, I realized beauty isn’t just pretty. He experiences beauty constantly, and he helped me realize that beauty exists in dimensions far beyond vision. There is an immersive, experiential quality of beauty that I hope to capture here.

May you discover some beautiful inspiration (and a smile)! XO, L

I love planning and packing for vacation, almost as much as I love the retreat itself. I enjoy day dreaming about the adventures and experiences ahead of me. I derive endless pleasure from imagining every detail… what I’ll be wearing, who I’ll be with, what I’ll be seeing and, most of all, what I’ll be feeling.

This weekend, I’m taking a special trip. It’s special for the obvious reason - that I’m leaving home during a global pandemic, a rare gift. But this getaway is made more significant because it is my annual mother-daughter retreat with my eldest. She’s turning eleven, and she is craving connection, a change of scenery and a leisurely breakfast in bed. This tradition of sneaking away for the weekend (and getting room service for breakfast) has become one of the highlights of our year. Seeing her relish my attention and pampering brings me a deep sense of joy. Her birthdays also mark my formal entry into motherhood, making them a meaningful celebration for us both. I can hardly wait to make her birthday wishes (and my mommy dreams) come true!

But first, on to the task at hand: what to pack for 36 hours in the Berkshires…
