Best Dressed Home No. 04 - And Beyond's Mnemba Island
My son and I are on safari... sort of. We are glamping in Santa Rosa, California at a nature preserve filled with African wildlife. Although I was admittedly skeptical (and our tent is filled with plenty of cliches to justify that reflex), we're having a blast! Our retreat even inspired this week's Best Dressed Home (err, hut?) No. 4 - And Beyond's Mnemba Island off the northeast coast of Zanzibar, which is in East Africa.
The property is a luxury resort owned by And Beyond, an experiential travel company with outposts throughout Africa. Mnemba Island is arguably the most exquisite in their collection. The setting is breath-taking, and I particularly love how the design doesn't compete with the surroundings but enhances it... frames it. I also adore the earthy palate with subtle pops of blue, layers and layers of texture and the thoughtful incorporation of local grasses, stone and wood. The result is airy, polished yet utterly unique and reflective of this distinct, remote corner of the world. Take a look at a property that epitomizes wanderlust. XO, L
